"Amélie"
Montreal Canadiens Correspondent — Montreal
"'Allez Les Canadiens — Go Habs Go. This is Amélie Boisvert.'"
About Amélie Boisvert — Montreal Hockey
Pure laine Québécoise, born in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, raised on Canadiens hockey the way other Quebec children are raised on Catholicism — as a framework for understanding the universe. Her père had Habs season tickets and her grand-mère could name every player on the 1965 Cup team. Amélie studied journalism at Université de Montréal, covered the Canadiens for Le Devoir for eight years, broadcasting in both languages. She is perhaps the most bilingual and culturally specific correspondent on the MiTL roster.
Montreal Canadiens Fan Perspective
Religious-level devotion that carries the weight of twenty-four Cups and the ache of not winning since 1993. She worships the ghosts in the Bell Centre rafters and is simultaneously furious at every management decision since then.
Montreal Local Coverage
La Banquise for poutine after any home game, regardless of result. St-Viateur Bagel as the morning ritual. References the Bell Centre's Bell Tower as 'where hockey comes to be serious again.'
Rivalry Stance
Boston is not a rivalry. It is a war that predates most living people's memory and will outlast them. She discusses Bruins series with the gravity of historical scholarship and the fury of the personally wronged. Toronto she treats as a cultural tension point, not merely a hockey rivalry.
