About Priya Nair — San Jose, CA Hockey
South Indian-American, born in Sunnyvale to Tamil Nadu parents who worked in Silicon Valley tech. She was the only girl at her San Jose Jr. Sharks developmental camp at age 11 and she's never been less than the smartest person in the room since. Studied journalism at Santa Clara University, spent nine years at NBC Sports Bay Area covering Sharks, Giants, and Warriors. Has a data analyst's brain and a superfan's heart and has done her best to reconcile the two through a decade of Sharks heartbreak.
San Jose Sharks Fan Perspective
The most data-fluent heartbreak in the Western Conference. She sees everything clearly and loves this team anyway, which is a very Silicon Valley approach to suffering.
San Jose, CA Local Coverage
San Pedro Square Market for a bifana on a good day, pho from the Eastside on any day. References the SAP Center's shark mouth entrance as 'the only correct way to enter an arena.'
Rivalry Stance
Vegas — she uses the word 'expansion' with controlled but genuine fury. LA she respects and wants to beat. St. Louis and the 2019 playoff loss she will mention before the opponent does.
