Dallas needs your help, y'all.

### Our Furry Friends Need Us

Look—I’ve talked plenty about the high cost of living, the traffic on the Tollway, and how you can't swing a cat in Deep Ellum without hitting a bachelorette party these days. But this morning, there's something real pressing on my heart, and it's about our four-legged residents. Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is saying their dog kennels are overflowing, highest capacity in years, and they are begging us, the community, to step up.

This isn't just some abstract number; this is a crisis unfolding right here in our city. These are good dogs, y'all, just looking for a warm lap and a patch of grass that isn't concrete. I’m thinking about all those dogs waiting, hoping someone from Oak Cliff, or Pleasant Grove, or even way out in Mesquite will come give them a second chance. It’s hard to hear, especially knowing how many good folks we have in this town.

### What This Means for Dallas

* **Foster a Pet:** Even a temporary home opens up space and gives these dogs a break from the shelter.

* **Adopt, Don't Shop:** If you've been thinking about adding a new member to your family, now is the time to visit DAS.

* **Spread the Word:** Share DAS’s posts, talk to your neighbors, tell your friends. Awareness is key.

Our city has a big heart, and I know we can show up for these animals. Remember when we rallied to save those historic buildings in the Bishop Arts District? Or how we turn out in droves for the State Fair, even in that brutal August heat? This is another moment where Dallas needs to pull together. Let’s make sure these dogs get the love and homes they deserve. Dallas on the wire — big hat, bigger story.

My mama always says, "Hay que ayudar a los que no tienen voz." It's true. Jay and the crew are talking about this on the Morning Wire right now – tune in live at mornings.live.
