Dauphin's getting 20 CM of snow. Seriously?

Your forecast for today is wild, you need to see this

Good morning from the Parkland — here's what matters in Dauphin today.

You know, sometimes you just shake your head at what Mother Nature throws our way, and this week is no different. We're well into April, the spring thaw should be in full swing, and what do we get? Another Alberta Clipper barreling down, bringing a good whack of snow and precipitation to the Parkland. Environment Canada has us under snowfall warnings, predicting up to 20 centimetres for our neck of the woods. It's not just a dusting; it's a proper late-season dump.

### What This Means for Dauphin

This isn't just a nuisance; it's something that genuinely impacts our day-to-day, especially for folks who work in agriculture or anyone thinking of hitting the highways.

* **Travel Troubles:** If you're planning on driving out towards Ste. Rose du Lac or up to Swan River, those highways could get tricky. Even Main Street Dauphin will be a mess, and that fresh layer of slush isn't great for the potholes that are just starting to show themselves from winter.

* **Farm Folks:** For our farmers, this late snow can be a mixed bag. It can add some much-needed moisture to the ground before seeding, which is a good thing for canola and grain crops, but it also delays fieldwork. Every day counts when you're trying to get a head start on the season.

* **Spring Activities:** Forget about getting those yards cleaned up just yet, or thinking about an early start to fishing out by Riding Mountain. This clipper is pushing back any ideas of proper spring weather.

It feels like we just finished clearing the last snow, and here we are again, breaking out the shovels and reminding ourselves where we put the winter boots. While it might feel like a never-ending winter, remember that every drop of moisture we get now can help us later in the growing season. Just makes you wonder when spring will actually decide to stick around.

That's the buzz from Dauphin. Don't forget, the Morning Wire crew really digs into these forecasts every day – you can catch them live at mornings.live.
