A developer tried to dox people in Glenora
You know, sometimes you think you’ve seen it all, particularly around development permits in this city. Then you hear about the Glenora developer who reportedly resorted to doxxing residents. Honestly though, it takes a certain kind of audacity to pull something like that. Glenora, for those not in the know, is one of those neighbourhoods with a certain… *gravitas*. People have lived there for generations, in houses that feel like they've been there since before the High Level Bridge was a gleam in some architect's eye. So, when a developer starts playing fast and loose with personal information because they're facing opposition, it's not just a bad look; it’s genuinely unsettling.
### Why This Isn't Just "Another Permit Fight"
Lorne Gunter, and I don't always agree with Lorne, is absolutely correct here: this goes beyond the usual to-and-fro of zoning debates. This isn't about whether a new building fits the aesthetic or impacts traffic on Groat Road. This is about a developer allegedly revealing private information, which is a serious breach of trust and, frankly, a pretty appalling tactic.
* **Breach of Trust:** When you engage in a public process, you expect a certain level of decorum and respect, even in disagreement.
* **Chilling Effect:** This kind of behaviour can intimidate residents from participating in future community consultations. Who wants their personal details exposed for simply voicing an opinion?
* **Professional Conduct:** Regardless of how passionate a development project is, there are ethical lines that shouldn't be crossed.
Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did. But we do expect a basic level of decency from those who seek to build within it. This city is built on community, from the smallest cul-de-sacs in Mill Woods to the grand old streets of Glenora. Actions like this erode that foundation, and that’s something we should all be keeping an eye on, whether you live in the Riverbend or near the Muttart Conservatory.
