Your City Hall's July 7 agenda was surprisingly… clean.
It was a pretty straightforward day at City Hall on July 7, judging by the recent motions. Everything moved with a unanimous 13-0 vote, which, honestly though, makes you wonder if they even had time for coffee breaks. There wasn't much room for disagreement, or even much debate, it seems. All the usual housekeeping items — agenda adoption, minute approvals, voting on reports and bylaws not selected for debate — sailed through without a hitch.
* **Unanimous Decisions:** Every single motion on July 7 passed 13 to 0. Not a single dissenting voice from any of the councillors: Knack, Paquette, Salvador, Stevenson, Rutherford, Wright, Principe, Tang, Janz, Clarke, Parmar, Elliott, or Morgan.
* **Key Bylaw Amendments:** Among the bylaws getting a second reading, we saw amendments to Bylaw 21548 (Accessibility Advisory Committee) and Bylaw 21544 (EPCOR Water Services). These are the gears that keep the city running, even if they don't always make for thrilling headlines.
* **Council Priorities:** There was a specific request to dedicate time on July 8 to continue the update on the 2025-2029 City Council Priorities. Always good to keep an eye on what they’re trying to get done for the next few years, helps you understand where your tax dollars are headed.
One thing that *did* catch my eye was in the gift registry. Councillor Andrew Knack received $390 from BILD Edmonton and Councillor Anne Stevenson received $397 from BILD Edmonton metro, both in early 2026. This is according to the gifts to council members disclosures. It's a reminder that even when things seem quiet at the surface, there's always a network of interests at play behind the scenes.
Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did.
