Did you hear about this new park cher?
Okay, so picture this, baby: you're driving out on the Northshore, maybe heading to Mandeville for some fresh air, and suddenly, you see it. Pelican Park, out there in Mandeville, just threw open the doors to this *massive* expanded skate park. It ain't just a few ramps, no. They got big thrills, max air, all that. This just opened on May 2nd, and already, I bet those kids are tearing it up, making those old concrete parks look like child's play. It’s a whole new world for the skate community.
Now, I know what some of y'all are thinking, "St. Tammany? That's not New Awlins proper, Mo." And you right, it ain't the Quarter or the Bywater. But let me tell you, plenty of our kids, they got family over there, they ride their boards all over the city, from the Lower Ninth Ward to Lakeview. This ain't just for the Northshore kids, this is for *all* the kids who love to skate, and Lord knows we need more places for them to burn off that energy, get outside, and do something constructive. It’s a good thing, a real good thing, to see money put into something for the youth, baby.
Here's why this matters to us:
* **Community Outlet:** Gives young people a dedicated, safe space to be active and connect.
* **Regional Draw:** Folks from across the metro area will head out there, bringing some of that New Orleans energy with them.
* **Positive Development:** Shows that even outside the immediate city, there's a commitment to recreation and quality of life for families.
This is the kind of thing that builds up a community, cher. It's not a new restaurant in the French Quarter, it's not a second line rolling down Tremé, but it’s still part of that vibrant life that makes our region special. We gotta give our young people something to do, something to be proud of, no matter if they're on the streets of Gentilly or catching air out in Mandeville. That's New Orleans, baby — we bury our dead above ground and keep the music below.
