Your City Hall is building something big out east
Okay, so les citoyens d'Ottawa, listen up. We've seen some pretty substantial building permits come across the desk, and one in particular, it’s a big one. This isn't just about a new shawarma spot, though je t'aime quand même le shawarma.
### Big Bucks for Big Builds
According to the latest issued building permits, there's a permit, #DRAIN 26-2107 SS, for site servicing for *nineteen* residential buildings at 1082 Lakeshore Road East. We are talking about a cool $1,118,910 just for the groundwork. This is in Ward 1, way out on the east end of the city, near the Greenbelt. This kind of investment for site servicing usually means a lot more is coming.
What's really fascinating, and my Carleton journalism reflex just kicked in, is that there's also an *active development application*, App #SP 25 68, for "Section 47 for block 8" also at 1082 Lakeshore Road East, and it's currently "Application in Process." The real story is never on the Hill — it's always just off it, and in this case, it’s off the east end of Highway 174. This isn't just a few new townhouses; this is a significant residential expansion for the city. It means more people, more traffic, and potentially more services needed in that area.
We will keep an eye on this Lakeshore Road East development. City Hall is definitely putting some serious money into expanding our footprint, and it'll be interesting to see what the next permits reveal for those nineteen buildings.
