🏛 EXCLUSIVE: CITY HALL DATA — Only on The Desk

Your TTC is finally getting a modern upgrade. Will it work?

Your TTC is finally getting a tech upgrade, fam!

Okay but real talk—the Toronto Transit Commission is stepping up its game, according to recent City Council votes. On July 22, 2026, both Councillors Dianne Saxe and Jamaal Myers voted 'Yes' on the "Fare Collection System Update," and it carried, fam, 7-0! It means they're finally pushing through with modernizing how we pay to get around this city.

This is a big deal, right? Especially for anyone who's ever been stuck trying to tap their card and it just... doesn't work. Remember those days? This data from the Council votes shows progress. It's not just about honouring legends like Howard Moscoe, which they also did unanimously that day (8-0, even with Josh Matlow absent). It's about making our commutes smoother, more reliable. This impacts everyone, from Scarborough residents catching the 905 Eglinton East to folks riding the 501 Queen streetcar through the Beaches.

What's next? We gotta watch how this new system actually rolls out. Will it be seamless? Will it actually make life easier for all of us dodging traffic on the DVP?

Real talk, this is Toronto — stay up.
