We've got an active structure fire in Burrows Central this morning, hey. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) dispatch records, as of 11:44 AM on July 30, 2026, show incident 2026120850 reported at 6:31 AM. Units D24, E17, E6, L16, and R6 are still on scene in the Point Douglas ward. This is the third structure fire in the North End since 2 AM, with previous incidents in William Whyte (Mynarski ward) at 4:32 AM, resolved by 4:52 AM, and North Point Douglas (Mynarski ward) at 2:06 AM, resolved by 2:27 AM. It’s a tough morning for our crews out there.
### What Else is Happening Around Town
Beyond the fires, the city's real-time intelligence monitors are flagging a few other things for us:
* **Hazmat Responses:** Five hazmat calls came in between 3:27 AM and 6:25 AM across various neighbourhoods including Rossmere-B, Central River Heights, Eric Coy, Riverbend, and Birchwood.
* **Traffic Incidents:** There were four motor vehicle collisions in just eight hours, from 3:35 AM to 6:31 AM, in Minto, West Broadway, and J.B. Mitchell. Road conditions could be a factor, so be safe out there.
* **Business Closures:** Central St. Boniface has seen five businesses close in the past month, part of a total of 35 closures city-wide recently. Our entrepreneurs are working hard, but it's a tough market, hey.
The City just announced yesterday, July 28, 2026, a new Crisis Response Model that could redirect over 10,000 calls from our first responders annually. We’ll be watching closely to see how this impacts service delivery, especially in areas like the North End that often see a high volume of calls.
