Your Planning Commission just approved a big one
Hey, Calgary. Cassidy Redcloud here, your Morning Wire correspondent, comin' at you from right here on the Bow, where the path just about froze over this morning. For real though, let's talk about what's been happening down at City Hall.
The Calgary Planning Commission was busy on March 12th, giving the green light to a couple of big reports. According to the official vote records, reports CPC2026-0209 and CPC2026-0143 both got the thumbs up, with every single member voting 'Yes'. That includes Nathan Hawryluk, Thom Mahler, Charles Boechler, Katherine Wagner, and Chris Hardwicke. This means these items are now headed to the full Council for three readings.
Now, what does this mean for you? Well, without knowing the specifics of those reports, what we *do* know is that the Planning Commission's job is to shape how our city grows and changes. These votes are about recommending land use bylaws and policy changes. Basically, they're laying the groundwork for how we build outwards or upwards, what kinds of businesses go where, and even where those new brunch spots in Bridgeland might pop up.
* On March 12th, the Calgary Planning Commission voted 'Yes' on two major reports. * Reports CPC2026-0209 and CPC2026-0143 were both unanimously approved. * This means these items now move to City Council for final approval.
This is Calgary — we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway. Keeping an eye on these Planning Commission recommendations is key, because they really do sketch out the future of our neighbourhoods, and what our city will look like for years to come. We'll be watching to see how Council handles these next.
