Your City Hall just okayed some big changes.
Alright Calgary, Cassidy Redcloud here, coming to you from the MiTL Sports Desk, but today we’re deep in the weeds of City Hall because some stuff went down that you should know about.
On March 12th, the Calgary Planning Commission was busy, real busy. They recommended Council give three readings to a couple of reports – CPC2026-0209 and CPC2026-0143. For real though, this means they're pushing forward significant land use and development plans.
* **Key Votes:** Commissioners Nathan Hawryluk, Thom Mahler, Charles Boechler, Katherine Wagner, and Chris Hardwicke all voted "Yes" on these motions, ensuring they carried. * **What it Means:** Basically, these are proposals to alter how land can be used or developed in certain areas. Think big picture stuff – where new housing can go, or maybe even commercial spaces. It’s the engine room of how our city grows and changes, right?
These approvals from the Planning Commission mean these items are now headed to the full City Council for their final say. It’s not quite a done deal yet, but the groundwork is laid. Keep an eye on Council’s next meetings; those three readings are where the rubber really hits the road. This is Calgary – we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway.
