Your City Hall is pushing development through
Well, howdy folks, it's Cassidy Redcloud here, coming at you live from the MiTL Sports Desk, covering your Calgary City Hall beat. This is Calgary — we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway.
We're seeing a lot of movement on the planning commission front. According to recent Calgary Planning Commission votes from March 12, 2026, several motions for development have been carried. Specifically, Reports CPC2026-0209 and CPC2026-0143 both received unanimous "Yes" votes from Commissioners like Nathan Hawryluk, Thom Mahler, Charles Boechler, Katherine Wagner, and Chris Hardwicke. Now, for real though, this tells us City Hall is actively pushing through new projects. When you see multiple reports getting three readings approved like this, it signals a clear push for more construction and changes to our urban landscape.
What does that mean for you? Well, it means the city is trying to keep the gears turning, even if we’re not always sure what exactly is being built where. Keep an eye on your local community association updates, because these planning commission approvals are the first drill bits hitting the ground for future developments in your neighborhoods.
This is Cassidy Redcloud, signing off.
Keith and the crew are talkin' about this right now, head over to mornings.live to join in.
