You won't believe what happened to your Canes last night
Well, good morning, Caniacs. Y'all probably still shaking off the sleep and maybe some of y'all just checking your phones for the first time. If you missed it, or fell asleep when things started going sideways, the Carolina Hurricanes got outplayed by the Montreal Canadiens right here in Raleigh, losing 3-1. It was a tough one to watch, especially after Andrei Svechnikov got us on the board first on that power play in the opening period. We were looking good, feeling good, but then the wheels just kinda wobbled loose in the second.
The turning point was definitely the second period. After Svechnikov’s early goal, the Montreal Canadiens really took control. Nick Suzuki tied it up for them, then Cole Caufield put them ahead. And just to really twist the knife, Suzuki got another one on the power play with less than a minute left in the period. That second goal from Suzuki, at 19:53, really sucked the wind outta PNC Arena. We only managed 18 shots all night to their 35, which just ain't gonna cut it. You can't win if you can't put the biscuit in the basket, plain and simple.
This loss breaks our streak and puts us at 6-4-0 in the last ten, but we’re still sitting pretty at the top of the Metro with 98 points. It’s a good reminder that every point matters, even against teams outside our division. We’ve got to shake this off quick, because the schedule ain't getting any easier. The Carolina Hurricanes need to get back to playing that relentless, in-your-face hockey we know and love. We're still the Bunch of Jerks, and it's time to act like it. The vibe around downtown Raleigh feels a little quieter this morning, but we'll bounce back.
