We almost coughed this one up but hey a win is a win, right?
Y'all, if you went to bed early last night, you missed a wild one at PNC Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes pulled off a 4-3 overtime victory against the Vegas Golden Knights, but not before giving us a heart attack. After B. Howden snagged two goals for Vegas, putting them up 2-0 heading into the third period, it looked bleak. But then the Canes turned it on, with L. Stankoven getting us on the board, followed by M. Jankowski tying it up. J. Staal, on the power play, put us ahead 3-2, and the roof nearly blew off the place. Of course, Vegas wasn't just gonna roll over, and M. Stone tied it back up with less than two minutes left in regulation. Overtime felt like forever, but S. Jarvis, on another power play, sealed the deal with the game-winner. S. Gostisbehere and S. Aho picked up some big assists on that one.
This win is huge, even if it was a little messy. It pushes the Carolina Hurricanes to 53-22-7, sitting pretty at 113 points and firmly in first place in the Metropolitan Division. We've won seven of our last ten, and a streak is a streak, even if we had to fight tooth and nail for it. Winning games like this, especially against a solid team like the Vegas Golden Knights, just shows this team's grit. It’s what we're fixin' to need as the playoffs get closer, reminding everyone in Raleigh that we're not just some college basketball town anymore. Folks are probably still buzzing over coffee down at Boulted Bread this morning.
'Cause Chaos — from Raleigh, this is T-Man.
