Your Chicago Bears are keepin' their own guys, and that's just fine by me.
Your Chicago Bears got Jack Sanborn locked up, and listen, you ain't gonna hear me complain about keepin' a guy who plays like he's got a deep dish on his shoulder. Sanborn, he's one of ours, a kid who fights for every yard. This ain't some splashy signing, right? This ain't gonna get the folks at Kuma's Corner chantin' his name from the rooftops just yet, but it's important. It tells me Ryan Poles is lookin' at the guys who are already wearin' the navy and orange, the fellas who know what it means to play in front of a Soldier Field crowd. It's about stability, about building from the inside out. Now, are we goin' all-in? Nah, not with this one move, but it's a piece of the puzzle. It shows me we're lookin' to fill some holes, sure, but also makin' sure the foundation is solid. We're still lookin' for that big piece on the offensive line, some more speed on the outside for our young quarterback, but keepin' Sanborn, that's just smart football.
Now, do I expect us to be hoistin' the Lombardi at the end of next season just 'cause we signed Sanborn? Come on, you know me better than that. But it's another step. Every brick in the wall, you know? It shows me we ain't throwin' out the good with the bad, and there's somethin' to be said for that. We got a good thing brewin' here, and these moves, they just keep the pot on the stove. We need to keep addin' around that young QB, makin' sure he's got all the tools.
Bear down, Chicago — because nobody else will.
