Chicago Blackhawks Game Recap: MIN 4, CHI 3

Another tough one for your Chicago Blackhawks last night, huh? Losing 4-3 to the Minnesota Wild in overtime, right here at home? Lookit, you work your tail off to come back from down two goals, twice, and then you just… give it away in OT. It’s like when you’re waiting in line at Portillo’s for a hot dog, finally get to the front, and they tell ya they’re out of dogs. Just plain painful. Connor Bedard was a wizard out there, no doubt, setting up Ryan Greene and Frank Nazar for crucial goals that got us back in it. And credit to Nazar, the kid’s got moxie, scoring late in the third to force overtime. But then Matt Zuccarello just… skates in and ends it. Brutal.

The boys dug themselves a hole early, letting Ryan Hartman and Marcus Johansson score in the first. Tarasenko even got one on the power play – a real gut punch. But that’s when Lukas Crevier stepped up, getting his first for the Chicago Blackhawks, which was a nice moment in a tough period. And then, like I said, Bedard just took over in the second and third to tie it up. But it wasn't enough, not with the way Zuccarello just waltzed in during overtime. We outshot ‘em 37-26, I’m just sayin’. You gotta finish those chances, especially when you’re pushing for every point.

This loss stings, especially since we're still sitting at 8th in the Central, just barely clinging to a Wildcard spot. We needed those two points, but we only got one. We’ve been streaky lately, a couple two tree wins, then a couple two tree losses. It’s not how you make a playoff push, you know? We gotta tighten things up, especially on defense, and make sure we're not giving away these overtime points. The schedule ain't getting any easier, so the Chicago Blackhawks need to find that grit that makes this city special, fast.

From da Madhouse on Madison — this is Kozy. Let's go Hawks.
