The Avs are looking a little wobbly right now
Denver's got a unique hum to it this morning. You can feel the buzz, that pre-game electric charge, especially around Union Station and down 16th Street. But it's not the same unbridled confidence we had a few weeks ago. The Colorado Avalanche have dropped a few tough ones, and the chatter I'm hearing at Steam Espresso Bar in Platt Park and even over at Snooze on Broadway is a mix. Folks are still super confident in this team's core, especially with Cale Makar back there, just effortlessly carving up the ice. He's like the perfect line in fresh powder, man. But there's a definite undercurrent of "what's going on with our D?" and "are we peaking too early?"
The big talk, though, is injuries. We're getting a bit banged up, and facing the Dallas Stars tonight, who are right there with us in the standings, makes everyone a little more anxious. It feels like we're on a tough descent right now, and fans are wondering if we can find our footing before the playoffs. Nobody's hitting the panic button yet, but the easy confidence from a month ago has been replaced by a more focused, almost gritty determination. We know what this team can do, but we need to see them execute.
Altitude hockey — the air is thin and the Avs are here. Vanny out.
