Your Colorado Avalanche had a wild one last night
You went to bed early, or maybe you just gave up on overtime, but let me tell you, the Colorado Avalanche found a way to win against the Los Angeles Kings last night at Ball Arena, 2-1 in OT. It was a grind, a lot like trying to climb Longs Peak in the fog. The Kings really clamped down, making it tough to find open ice. They even got on the board first with a power-play goal from Artemi Panarin in the third, and for a minute there, it felt like a tough descent was coming.
But the Avs aren't built for tough descents. Gabriel Landeskog got us on the board at 16:25 of the third, a massive response when we needed it most, tying things up with helpers from Martin Necas and Devon Toews. Then, in overtime, it was Nicolas Roy who found the back of the net, assisted by Josh Manson and Nazem Kadri, to seal the deal. The shots were 25-36 in favor of the Kings, so this wasn't a clinic, but finding a way to win when you're outshot like that? That's championship grit.
This win is huge for the Colorado Avalanche. We’re sitting pretty at 55-16-11, still first in the Central, and extending our win streak. This kind of resilience, especially against a Kings team that can really frustrate you, bodes well as we look ahead. It's a gorgeous morning in Denver today, the kind where you can almost taste the victory with your Snooze brunch on Broadway. The air is feeling a little lighter after that one.
Altitude hockey — the air is thin and the Avs are here. Vanny out.
