Your Dallas Stars got knocked down in Minnesota last night
Well, that was a kick in the teeth, wasn't it? The Dallas Stars fell to the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on the road, and honestly, it felt worse than the score even says. We were holding our own for a bit, even after Quinn Hughes got the Wild on the board early in the first. Wyatt Johnston, bless his heart, tied it up on the power play in the second, and then Mavrik Bourque put us ahead. For a hot minute there, you could almost taste that win. But then Kirill Kaprizov and the Wild just took over, rattling off four unanswered goals to close out the game. It was a gut punch, plain and simple, especially seeing Matt Boldy tack on two at the very end.
It wasn't a total disaster on paper — shots were almost even, 23-21, and the Dallas Stars really were in it for a good portion of the second period. But the Wild capitalized on our mistakes, especially late. Quinn Hughes was a problem all night, not just with his goals but just his presence. You could see the Dallas Stars struggling to keep up with their pace once Minnesota really started to turn it on. It felt like we just ran out of gas, or maybe just out of answers, right when it mattered most.
This loss stings, no doubt, and it's gonna be a real conversation starter over coffee at the West End this morning. We're still sitting pretty at second in the Central with 112 points, but losing to Minnesota always feels like a personal affront. We've got a tight schedule coming up, and we can't afford too many more nights like this one. We've been on a solid run, 7-2-1 in our last ten, so this could just be a blip. But the Dallas Stars need to tighten things up, especially defensively, if we're fixin' to make a deep run.
This is Hutch — Dallas Stars hockey. Big state, bigger game.
