Your city hall just had a very quiet meeting
Alright, so the Agenda Review Committee met on June 2, 2026. If you're wondering what an Agenda Review Committee does, it's pretty much what it sounds like. They review the agenda. It’s like the opening act before the main event, except sometimes the opening act involves deciding if the audience can even watch.
**Some Public, Some Private**
All five motions on the agenda, moved by A. Stevenson and J. Wright, passed unanimously 3 to 0. Mostly, it was about adopting the agenda and approving minutes. The interesting bit – and "interesting" is, of course, a relative term when we're talking about civic committee meetings – was that they voted to meet in public, and then immediately voted to meet in private to discuss "item 2.1" pursuant to section 29 (advice from officials) of the *Access to Information Act*. It's all very… procedural. You get the sense that while the lights were on for a moment, the real discussion happened behind closed doors.
Honestly though, it’s not unusual for parts of these meetings to go private, especially when they're getting advice that might involve legal or personnel matters. What's next? Well, the amended draft agenda will eventually make its way to the full council, and then we'll see what they decide. Maybe it'll be about potholes. One can hope.
