Your city councillors love Calgary. Who knew?
City Hall has been busy, as always, but it seems some of our councillors are already making plans for the fall. Council expense reports, publicly available through the City of Edmonton’s records, show that Councillor Clarke and Councillor Elliott have already booked their trips for the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Convention in Calgary.
* Councillor Clarke's expenses total $1,510.88, covering $825.88 for accommodation and $685.00 for registration for the November 12-14, 2025 event. * Councillor Elliott’s expenses so far are $1,173.88, with $825.88 for accommodation and $348.00 for food and incidentals for the same convention.
Honestly though, it’s not exactly the kind of groundbreaking news that makes you drop your perogy. But it is a reminder that even our civic leaders, who, let’s be honest, often seem to exist in a different dimension up there at City Hall, still need to, you know, *travel*. And those trips add up. It’s worth keeping an eye on these things; understanding where public funds are allocated, even for professional development, is part of keeping the lights on, so to speak.
Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did.
