Green Bay, you won't believe what the Packers just did
Well, now, that was certainly… something, wasn't it? I just walked over from Kroll's, trying to process it all, ya know, and the talk there was buzzing like a beehive that just got poked. The Green Bay Packers, they went and did it again, surprising everyone. I mean, we all had our wish lists, didn't we? Dreaming of a dominant safety or a hulking offensive lineman to shore things up. But when the dust settled, General Manager Brian Gutekunst went for... well, he went for talent he believes in, pure and simple.
You look at those first few picks, like Cooper DeJean, the versatile defensive back from Iowa, and Edgerrin Cooper, the linebacker out of Texas A&M. On paper, these guys are athletes, no doubt about it. DeJean could play anywhere in the secondary, which is a good thing because the Green Bay Packers need some flexibility there. And Cooper? He flies around the field, ya know. We've been needing some speed at linebacker for a while, a guy who can really track down ball carriers. It feels like Gutey is trying to add playmakers, even if it wasn't the exact position everyone had circled in permanent marker.
The mood here in Green Bay is, I'd say, cautiously optimistic. It ain't euphoria, not yet. Some folks at Stadium View are still scratching their heads, wondering why we passed on some of those big names, but others are already picturing DeJean making a game-changing interception. It's a mix, ya know. My grade for this draft class? Intriguing. Sixty titles of cold and Lambeau still stands — go Pack go.
