Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories. And sometimes, those stories have four paws and a serious sense of adventure. That's some good one, my son, and it's got everyone around the harbour scratching their heads and wondering how on earth Franco the calico made that journey.
This isn't some quick hop over the Arm, mind you. Franco, a calico cat from Elmsdale, decided she needed a change of scenery and embarked on a trek of over 40 kilometres, only to be found right there on the A. Murray MacKay Bridge during rush hour. Imagine the traffic, the wind coming off the harbour, the sheer nerve of the thing! It's one of those tales that just makes you laugh and shake your head, thinking about the Halifax Bridge Commission having to deal with a feline commuter. Honestly, it sounds like something out of a Joel Plaskett song, this brave little cat taking on the big city.

It just goes to show you, buddy, life in Halifax is never dull, and sometimes the biggest mysteries aren't about international politics or offshore oil, but about a determined calico cat. For those of us who cross that bridge every day, staring out at the Narrows and imagining the history of the harbour, it’s a wild thought to picture a cat making that same journey on foot. Hope Franco got some extra treats when she finally made it back home to Elmsdale.
