They just found iron nails in Roman graves. Why?

They just found *what* in those Roman graves?

Good morning from the Hammer — steel town, art town, your town. Don't look away.

Listen, you know how we sometimes find old stuff down by the Bayfront when they're digging up new condo sites? Like, old bottles, bits of pottery from when this whole place was just farmland, right? But nothing, and I mean *nothing*, like what they just dug up in Rome. Apparently, archaeologists found three skeletons in an old Roman necropolis, and get this: they had *iron nails* hammered into their chests. Not in some box next to them, not buried with them, but *in* them. The experts are saying it might've been to keep their spirits from getting restless, or maybe to protect the living from the dead. Can you even imagine? We deal with ghosts at the Tivoli, sure, but no one's nailing them down. We're more of a 'sage and a strong espresso' kind of town.

This is a Barton Street story, if you ask me. Like, the kind of wild rumour you'd hear on a Friday night, but then it turns out to be real. It makes you wonder what kind of secrets are still buried under this city, from the old steel mill days to the original settlement up on the Mountain. Probably nothing this gnarly, I hope. My baba would say they just needed some good ćevapi and a shot of rakija to calm down, restless spirits or not.
