Guess what City Hall approved for your weekend?
Good morning from the Okanagan — the lake is calm, the vines are growing, and we have things to discuss.
Okay, but here's the thing nobody talks about: what happens at City Hall actually affects your Saturday. And this week, the big news from our latest business license update is all about where you'll be spending your time (and money) after a bike ride on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail.
### New Places to See
According to the recent business license filings, a new "winery with tasting room and food service" is set to open in the South Pandosy area, near Guisachan Heritage Park. You know, where the old orchard used to be, before it became, well, a vineyard. This isn't just another tasting room; the license specifically mentions *food service*. That means you'll soon have another spot to grab a proper meal, not just a charcuterie board, with your Kelowna-grown rosé. The license was issued for 3650 Lakeshore Road, which is fantastic for that whole area. Think about it: a perfect stop after a morning paddle on Okanagan Lake.
Also approved was a new "specialty coffee shop" right on Bernard Avenue, near the Ogopogo statue. This is big, because while we love our classic spots, a fresh take on coffee right downtown can really change the morning vibe for people heading to work or just strolling by City Park Beach. It's a sign that downtown Kelowna is continuing to diversify, which is honestly great for everyone, especially those of us who appreciate a good flat white.
These new additions mean more options for residents and visitors alike, adding to Kelowna's growing reputation as a city that truly understands good food and drink. Keep an eye out for opening dates on Lakeshore and Bernard; I'll definitely be checking them out.
