Your City Hall just okayed new spots for your morning coffee
Good morning from the Okanagan — the lake is calm, the vines are growing, and we have things to discuss.
Okay, but here's the thing nobody talks about: what actually gets approved at City Hall often tells you more about Kelowna's pulse than any big announcement. This week, among the usual permits, two new business licences really caught my eye, especially if you're like me and need a good coffee to face the day.
### Your New Spots
The city just approved two new coffee shops. One is a new location for "The Daily Grind," a local favourite, setting up shop at 1450 St. Paul Street, right in the heart of downtown. That's a high-traffic area, just a block or two off Bernard Avenue, so it makes sense. The other is "Okanagan Brew & Bake," a brand new independent venture opening its doors at 2150 Pandosy Street. That's fantastic news for the Lower Mission, which always needs more local spots for a quick bite and a really good latte. Both were approved in the last batch of business licences, showing that while we're growing, there's still room for those essential community hubs.
This expansion of local coffee culture isn't just about caffeine; it's about the continued densification and vitality of our core and neighbourhood centres. Keep an eye on these two locations as they get ready to open their doors – I know I'll be first in line!
