Alright, LA, buenos días. Hope y'all got a better night's sleep than I did after that one. Waking up this morning, it just feels like the fog over the 405, you know? The Kings fell to the Bruins last night, 2-1, in overtime out in Boston. It was a grinder, a real defensive slugfest, which, like, we can appreciate that style of play. But man, losing in OT after battling back in the third, that's a tough pill to swallow. Lohrei got one for Boston midway through the third, then Drew Doughty — our guy, of course — tied it up with less than six minutes left, off a slick pass from Moore and Kempe. You could feel that momentum shift, like, 'here we go, we're gonna steal this one.' But then McAvoy just ends it 39 seconds into OT. Pastrnak and Kastelic set him up, and that was just it. Shots were 23-16 in their favor, which tells you it was a tight game, but we definitely needed more rubber on net.
Honestly, the boys showed some grit to even get it to overtime, especially after being down. That Doughty goal, man, it was a beauty – a real captain's goal, the kind that makes you think, 'okay, we still got this.' Our defense was, like, mostly solid, keeping the Bruins’ top guys pretty contained for large stretches. But the offense… that's where we kinda stalled out. We just couldn't generate enough sustained pressure, enough high-quality chances. It's not for lack of trying, but you could tell that road trip, playing back-to-back, it took a toll. This isn't the first time we've seen this kind of pattern, like, against Edmonton recently, it's those tight games where we just can't find that extra gear. It's frustrating, and that's just facts, dude.
So, where does this leave us? We're still sitting at 26-23-15, 67 points, holding onto that Wildcard #3 spot. But our last ten, 3-6-1, that's not exactly inspiring confidence for a playoff push. We gotta get some wins, like, yesterday. Every point counts right now, especially with how tight the Western Conference is. Losing an OT point still stings, but at least it's not a regulation loss. We've got a couple of days to regroup before we face Vancouver at home on Saturday at Crypto. We need to reset, recharge, and come out with that fire. The mood in LA this morning is definitely a little deflated, but we're not panicking. We know what this team is capable of, we’ve seen them lift the Cup twice. They just gotta find that gear, that consistent offensive threat, and keep that D-zone tight.
Los Reyes. LA Kings hockey. I'm Gabi Vásquez — gnarly game, let's go Kings.
