Brendan’s Boston Breakdown: Your New England Patriots Draft Reaction
This ain't what we expected but it's what we got, Boston
Alright, so the New England Patriots just wrapped up their draft, and if you were sittin’ at the Cask 'n Flagon last night, you heard a lotta different opinions, let me tell ya. We signed Eli Raridon, a tight end, and Quintayvious Hutchins, a linebacker. Now, I’m not gonna lie to ya, folks, Boston was hopin' for a little more fireworks, a little more flash from the draft. It wasn't exactly what we were screaming for at the Dunkin' on Morrissey Boulevard, but you gotta trust the process, right? Belichick always played it close to the vest, and this feels like one of those moves where we don't get it now, but maybe in a year or two, we're all nodding our heads.
Raridon and Hutchins — how do they fit into the picture down in Foxboro? Well, we always need depth at tight end, especially if we wanna get back to smashmouth football. And a linebacker like Hutchins, that's just good, solid football. You can never have too many guys who can hit, who can fill a gap. It’s not a splash, it's a foundation, and you gotta build from the ground up. This ain't about one game, this is about the long haul, and the New England Patriots are always thinking long haul. We need to remember that, especially after all those Super Bowls.
So what's the mood in Boston? I'd say it's more… thought-provoking. Not euphoric, not furious. A little bit confused, maybe, but mostly just wait-and-see. We've been through enough drafts to know you don't judge a book by its cover. I’m gonna give this draft class one word: "Deliberate."
