Your Neighbors Are Making Noise, Not Big Plans

So look, you wanna know what's really happening at City Hall, right? What's got the city's attention? It ain't no big development permits this week, that's for sure – the data shows "N/A" across the board for new building permits. Nah, what's really poppin' off, according to the 311 service requests, is that y'all are really loud.

Seriously. "Noise - Street/Sidewalk / Loud Music/Party" topped the list with a wild 2,726 requests. Right behind it, "Illegal Parking / Blocked Hydrant" at 2,636. Then more noise, "Noise - Residential / Loud Music/Party" with 2,411 complaints and "Noise - Residential / Banging/Pounding" hitting 2,077. So basically, your neighbors are either throwing down to a beat or just generally making a ruckus.

Here's the thing: while we're all complaining about how loud it is and where everyone's parking their cars, the lobbyists are still doin' their thing. Bolton-St. Johns, LLC is working for Barnard College, for example, pushing their agenda right up until 2025. What's next? Probably more noise complaints, because that's New York — if you can't keep up, take the bus.
