The New York Jets just went shopping and we need to talk

Deadass, are the New York Jets serious with this?

Okay, so we signed Chukwuma Okorafor, an offensive tackle. Let me pause for dramatic effect. An offensive tackle. Look, I’m not saying it’s *bad*. We need O-line help like I need a break from these L train delays. Our offense last year was like a broken-down Yellow Cab on the BQE — going nowhere fast. So, yeah, signing a guy to protect whoever is under center is, you know, fundamental. But excited? My dude, I just drove past Kelly’s Sports Bar on the Lower East Side, and the only excitement I saw was a guy trying to parallel park a Honda Civic in a spot clearly meant for a Smart Car. This ain't setting the world on fire, or even sparking a mild interest at Donovan's Pub in Woodside when we’re watching a road game. It tells me the New York Jets are still in "patching holes with duct tape and a prayer" mode, not "all-in Super Bowl run" mode. No cap, this is just filling a very obvious, very large, very *Jets-ian* hole.

We’re still missing so much, it’s not even funny — and believe me, I find a lot of humor in the New York Jets’ existence. We need another receiver who can actually catch the damn ball when it matters. We need a tight end who isn't just a rumor. And can we please, for the love of everything holy, get a reliable backup quarterback who doesn't make me want to throw my remote through the TV? My father, God bless him, keeps asking if this is *the year*. And I just look at him, thinking about Okorafor, and want to apologize right then and there for giving him hope again. This move is like getting new tires for a car with a cracked engine block. Necessary, but not a solution. We need to be targeting big-name receivers or a top-tier edge rusher to really move the needle in New York City.

From the 7 train to MetLife — Gang Green, we're still here.
