Here's the thing about Peterborough: the currents of conversation at City Hall this past week have really been about two big things – where we live and how we live here. It feels like the Otonabee River itself, always flowing, sometimes quiet, sometimes a little wild.
The big push has been on housing. Council seems to be thinking a lot about the water levels of home ownership and how to make sure the river doesn't just flow for a few.
* Affordable housing strategies were a main discussion point. * Accessibility in new developments also came up, making sure everyone can navigate our city. * And of course, those spring storms Environment Canada warned us about have been a steady hum in the background, influencing discussions on infrastructure and preparedness.
It's all tied together, really. How we build, how we weather the storms, how we make sure everyone has a good place to anchor their canoe. These are the currents shaping our community.
