Your City Hall's been busy, or nah?
Listen, y'all wanna know what's really happening down at City Hall, not all that political talk, right? That's what I thought. So, I'm not even gonna hold you, the latest data coming out from 311 service requests and development permits? It's saying a whole lot about what's actually going on in our neighborhoods.
### What’s Poppin' Down at City Hall
I'm looking at these numbers, and lemme tell you, it's a mixed bag, like trying to pick between John's Roast Pork and a cheesesteak after the game. What jumped out to me first is this: * 311 requests for "Miscellaneous" issues are still... miscellaneous. No clear trends here, which means folks are calling about everything and nothing specific, just like always. It's like asking a Philly resident what's wrong and they just say "the whole jawn."
And then you got the development side. I'm seeing N/A for all the building permits – BP_MECH, BP_ALTER, PP_PLUMBNG, EP_ELECTRL. N/A for everything. That ain't right, or nah? Either nothing is happening, which I doubt with all the cranes I see when I'm driving through Fishtown, or the data ain't catching it. You see new joints going up all over, especially around West Philly, and those numbers should be showing *something*. This means we gotta keep an eye on how these permits are actually getting processed versus what's being reported. Are we getting the full picture of who's building what, and where, or is some of this jawn slipping through the cracks?
That's the jawn, Philly — we don't do fake out here.
