Your tax dollars are going somewhere else, mijo
Look, here's the deal— you wake up, you hit Matt's Big Breakfast for a scrambler, maybe think about that hike up South Mountain later. But while you're doing that, City Hall is making moves that hit your wallet and your neighborhood. This week, one of the biggest stories is not even from here directly, but it affects all of us. The Trump administration, according to those media releases, just dumped a huge $1.77 billion from what they called an "anti-weaponization" fund. Now, that kind of money, *mijo*, you know that could do a lot right here in Phoenix. We're talking about infrastructure, about cooling centers in July when it’s 118 degrees, about our canals.
And speaking of money and local politics, the race for Arizona’s GOP attorney general is getting spicy. Attorney General Mayes is already looking into a PAC that’s funneling money for Petersen. "Follow the money," she says, and that’s what we’ll be doing. These are the kinds of races that impact everything from our water rights to our everyday safety.
What does this mean for us? We're talking about big money decisions, federal and state, that impact our local priorities here in Phoenix. We need to stay sharp, because these dollars, or the lack of them, affect our streets, our schools, and our ability to keep this city running when the sun is trying to fry an egg on the sidewalk.
That's the Valley, baby — 115 degrees and we're still out here.
