Your tax cuts are here but Arizona is still fighting
Look, here's the deal—it’s been a busy weekend for folks up at the State Capitol, and it all comes down to some big money moves and some even bigger political fights. Governor Katie Hobbs signed the state's new $18.3 billion budget into law yesterday, Sunday, June 14, 2026. She’s calling the Trump-conforming tax cuts in it a “historic” win, which means more money stays in your pocket, mi gente. It’s a move that many have been watching closely, especially with everything else going on.
But while the budget is set, the drama sure ain't over.
* The Legislature wrapped up its 2026 session Saturday, June 13, after some late-night pushes from the GOP. * One of those pushes was sending a conservative agenda straight to the voters. * There was a compromise on voucher reforms that died, and the Arizona GOP went ahead and rushed through a ballot referral to block those very reforms.
This means you’re gonna see a lot of these issues on the ballot come November. So, while the budget is done, the political sparring over what our state values is just getting started. Keep your eyes peeled for those ballot initiatives—they’re gonna shape the Valley for years to come.
That's the Valley, baby — 115 degrees and we're still out here.
