Y'all, I'm telling you, sometimes you wake up and you just gotta wonder what in the sweet tea is going on. We had a beautiful Sunday, sun shining over the oaks at Pullen Park, folks enjoying the greenways, and then boom – our calm gets shaken up right there in the heart of downtown. Six people hurt in a stabbing overnight, right after a fight. Investigators are saying it wasn't random, that these folks knew each other. Bless their hearts.
Now, this isn't some random tourist trouble, look. This is happening in our own backyard, in the very places where we go for a nice dinner or to catch a show. We're talking about that vibrant downtown core, close to the Warehouse District where folks are just trying to enjoy some Beasley's Chicken + Honey or catch a game at a spot with a view of the skyline. It just throws you, doesn't it? Makes you think about the folks just trying to make a living down there, and the impression this leaves.
