Saint John's about to get 50mm of rain. Your plans are toast.

Good morning from the Fundy shore — the tide's turning, and so is New Brunswick. Let's get into it.

### Your umbrellas will barely help you today

I'll tell you what, you step outside this morning and you can feel it, right? The Bay of Fundy is looking a bit rough, and the wind off the harbour is carrying a message. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Saint John and most of southern New Brunswick, warning of significant rainfall starting late this afternoon and continuing into tomorrow. They're saying we could see between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain, with some localized areas getting even more.

This isn't just a regular Tuesday drizzle, folks.

* The rain is expected to begin around 4 PM today. * It'll be heaviest overnight and into Wednesday morning. * Localized flooding is a real possibility, especially in low-lying areas around the Marsh Creek system and parts of the uptown near King Street's steepest sections. * Gusty winds are also in the forecast, making for some messy conditions.

Keep an eye on those storm drains, right? And maybe rethink any plans to walk the Fundy Trail Parkway tomorrow. The city's public works crews will be on high alert for drainage issues, but it's always good for residents to be vigilant. This kind of weather can really make a mess of the morning commute, especially heading into the city from the Kingston Peninsula.

This much rain could certainly put a damper on things, and we'll be watching how it impacts traffic and any potential flooding in our historic uptown district.

That's the latest from the City Hall beat. I'm Caleb Duguay-Firth, and this is MiTL Sports Desk.
