Your city hall is thinking about a Tenderloin 'Safe Zone'
Okay so, City Hall is talking about a new “Safe Zone” in the Tenderloin, according to a press release from Friday. You know, to try and get a handle on what's been happening there. They're also bringing back Sunday Streets, which is cool for folks trying to walk around without getting run over. It’s a lot, especially after that whole thing with the former Trader Joe’s worker who got killed during a police chase, and two SFPD officers got injured. That was a rough Friday, fam.
Here’s the deal:
* **Tenderloin "Safe Zone":** This sounds like an effort to concentrate resources and services, or maybe just clear out some blocks. Details are still vague on what that actually means on the ground. * **Sunday Streets Returns:** Good for getting people out and about. It's nice to see something positive for folks in the neighborhood. * **Portsmouth Square closure:** Chinatown seniors are apparently finding a new spot to hang out, which is good. That square was basically their living room.
That's the City, fam — fog, hills, and all. We'll have to see if this "Safe Zone" plan actually makes a difference or if it's just another idea that fizzles out like so many before it.
