New arts and culture leader just dropped in the City
Okay so, big news for anyone who cares about what makes San Francisco, well, *San Francisco*. The City just announced Matthew Goudeau as our new leader of arts and culture. This happened Monday, July 27, according to the City's official media releases. He’s stepping into a pretty vital role, especially now with so many legacy spots like the Castro Theatre facing... changes.
Goudeau’s job is basically to keep the creative pulse of San Francisco beating, from the galleries in North Beach to the murals in the Mission. It’s a huge gig because arts funding in the City has always been this delicate dance, especially with the tech money sometimes overshadowing the bohemian spirit we’re famous for. With the San Francisco Art Book Fair pulling in 30,000 visitors this year, clearly, people are here for it. This new leadership could mean a real push to support local artists and venues.
