This one stings but you knew it would be tough
Okay, teal faithful, let’s talk about last night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks. The San Jose Sharks dropped a pretty rough one on the road, 6-1, and honestly, it felt like the kind of night where nothing was going to break our way. Leo Carlsson and Jackson Carlson both scored early in the first period, and that pretty much set the tone. It was a 2-0 hole we never really climbed out of, and the Ducks just kept finding ways to extend their lead, even though the shots on goal weren't a complete blowout at 30-19 in their favor.
### The Breakdown
The key thing I felt watching that was the sustained pressure Anaheim managed. Adam Killorn got one in the second period, and then Jackson Carlson netted two more in the third, both on the power play, completing his hat trick. Frank Vatrano also found the back of the net late. Shakir Mukhamadullin eventually broke the shutout for the San Jose Sharks, scoring from Tyler Toffoli in the third, which was a small bright spot, but it was too little, too late. The Corsi numbers were definitely not in our favor after that first period, indicating how much time we spent defending.
* Anaheim’s early goals set the pace. * Jackson Carlson's hat trick was a real momentum killer. * Mukhamadullin's goal was a late consolation. * Sharks are now 37-34-7 with 81 points, still 5th in the Pacific.
So, what does this mean for the San Jose Sharks? Well, we’re still sitting at 81 points, holding onto that 5th spot in the Pacific, but this kind of loss doesn't help the playoff picture. The mood in San Jose, CA this morning feels a little heavy, like when you're trying to find parking near the SAP Center after a tough game. We’ve got to shake this off quickly and refocus. The schedule ahead isn't getting any easier, and every point truly matters now.
Teal faithful, we're patient. We've been patient. We're still here. This is P-Nair.
