Your downtown bike lanes are safe, for now.

Your bike lanes finally got a decision, for now

Saskatoon — seven bridges, two rivers, and something happening you haven't heard about yet. And this week, my darlings, we were all hearing about one thing: those glorious, much-debated bike lanes.

Okay, so this is actually wild. City Hall has been a full-on drama, but it looks like the bike lane saga has finally, *finally* reached a pause.

### Bike Lane Breakthrough (Mostly)

After what felt like a hundred years of back-and-forth, our City Council actually voted. Yes, they did! The motion to scrap the downtown protected bike lanes? It failed. Which means:

* The 4th Avenue and 23rd Street protected lanes are staying put. For now. * New plans for the 19th Street lanes are still on the table. * A new Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will be formed to guide future decisions.

It's not a complete victory for anyone, really. Saskatoon is a city that will invite you to a farm-to-table dinner and then make you defend the concept of a city for twenty minutes. So, naturally, we couldn't just have a simple outcome.

For those of us trying to cycle to the farmers' market without feeling like we're in a Mad Max film, this is... progress? Keep your eyes peeled, my friends, because with City Hall, "for now" rarely means "forever."
