Your bike lane saga just hit a new level, trust me
Saskatoon — seven bridges, two rivers, and something happening you haven't heard about yet. But if you’re living here, my darlings, you definitely heard about the bike lanes this week! Okay, so this is actually wild. After all the back and forth, City Hall finally made a decision about the downtown bike lane network. And what a week it was leading up to it!
It felt like a Nollywood film, I tell you. One minute we're bracing for a special weather statement from Environment Canada, the next we're back to arguing about two-wheeled transportation.
Here’s the gist:
* The downtown bike lane pilot project? It’s officially going to become permanent. Yes, permanent! * This means the cycle tracks on 4th Avenue, 23rd Street, and Mameo Avenue are here to stay. * City Council approved this move after a very long debate, which included some wild public presentations. * They also approved a new design for the Spadina Crescent section, which is going to be something else.
Saskatoon is a city that will invite you to a farm-to-table dinner and then make you defend the concept of a city for twenty minutes, and this bike lane decision is just another flavour of that, no? It's all very… Saskatoon.
