Your new book in the Sault is going to be something special
Bonjour from the North — three cities, one corridor, and the stories that don't make it south of Barrie.
Okay, so picture this: You’re walking down Queen Street East, maybe you just grabbed a coffee from the Huron Street Café, and you see a poster for a book launch. Not just any book, though. It’s called *Fresh Eyes 2025: Reimagining Sault Ste. Marie*. This isn't just a collection of local stories; it's a look at where we're going, right here in the Sault. It’s published by Tagona Press, and they’re doing the launch at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, which is a perfect spot, n'est-ce pas?
### Why This Matters for Us
This book, *Fresh Eyes 2025*, it’s a big deal because it shows that people are really thinking about the future of this city. We're not just defined by the steel plant, though Algoma Steel is definitely our heartbeat, our anxiety, and our pride. We're more than just a stopping point before you cross the International Bridge to Michigan. This book is about looking ahead, at the possibilities for our kids, for the young people who might otherwise go down south. It's about what we want Sault Ste. Marie to be.
* **Community Vision:** It’s a chance to see what our neighbours, our artists, our thinkers, are dreaming up for the Sault. * **Local Publishing:** Tagona Press putting this out? That’s fantastic. It means we have local voices creating local content, which is essential for our distinct identity. * **Future Focus:** It’s not just looking back at our history, though we cherish it. It's about planting seeds for tomorrow, making sure the Sault isn't just surviving, but thriving.
We need more of this kind of conversation. We drive four hours for an MRI, and sometimes it feels like Toronto doesn't even know we're here, but we are, and we're building something. This book launch is Tuesday at the library, 6:30 p.m. You should go. Support our local storytellers and help us write the next chapter for the Sault.
