Your Star Wars Lego collection is HUGE
Bonjour from the North — three cities, one corridor, and the stories that don't make it south of Barrie.
So, you know how everyone has their thing, right? Their passion, the thing they just *get* lost in? Well, here in the Sault, we've got a fella named Derek Pearce, and his thing is Star Wars Lego. And when I say his "thing," I mean he's got more than 200 sets. Two hundred! Tabarnak, that's a lot of plastic bricks. He's putting them all on display at the Marconi Multicultural Event Centre this weekend for something he's calling "May The Bricks Be With You." It’s happening on a Saturday, so you know, a perfect weekend activity.
### Why This Matters for the Sault
This isn't just about a guy who likes Lego; it's about what makes our city interesting. It's these kinds of individual passions that build community. You see the Algoma Steel plant every day, you drive across the International Bridge, but it's these smaller, unique events that really show you the heart of the Sault. Derek’s putting his passion out there for everyone, and that takes some cojones. It’s a chance for families, for kids, for anyone who grew up with Star Wars (which is pretty much everyone, non?) to connect over something fun and maybe a little bit nerdy.
* **Community Spirit:** It brings people together outside of the usual hockey games or community suppers. * **Local Talent:** It showcases the diverse interests and hobbies of Sault Ste. Marie residents. * **Family Fun:** A perfect, affordable way for families to spend a Saturday, especially with the weather still being a bit... Northern.
It’s easy to get caught up in the big news, the stuff about drugs and politics, and yeah, that's important. But sometimes, it’s the guy with 200 Star Wars Lego sets who reminds you that life here in Sault Ste. Marie is also about creativity, community, and just plain fun. You can find him down on Albert Street West, sharing a piece of his world.
