Your Lynnwood commute just hit a 20-year milestone. Seriously?

Your commute just got... more Lynnwood.

**Twenty Years Just To Get This Bridge Started? Seriously?**

Okay, so you know how sometimes you plan a weekend trip to Bainbridge Island, and it takes you like, an hour to get out of your driveway? Imagine that, but for twenty years, and it’s a bridge over I-5. Because that’s what Lynnwood just did. They finally broke ground on a seventy-million-dollar bridge project after *two decades* of planning. I mean, bus karo. Twenty years? That's longer than some of the tech companies have been in South Lake Union, you know?

It’s wild, right? We're talking about a city that’s practically a suburb of a suburb now, and they’ve been waiting since, like, before the Seahawks won their Super Bowl, just to get this started. Think about all the traffic that’s gone through that area, all the folks heading up to Everett or down to Seattle, during that time. I guess patience truly is a virtue in Snohomish County.

* **What's the Deal?** Lynnwood's new I-5 bridge is finally under construction. * **How Long Was the Wait?** A cool twenty years of planning before a single shovel hit the dirt. * **Why Does it Matter?** It’s a major traffic artery, and twenty years is a long time to wait for infrastructure that, I mean, everyone agrees is needed, right?

I guess it just goes to show you that even when Rainier is out, and everything feels forgiven, some things still take their sweet, sweet time to get done around here. You know, like waiting for the Mariners to make the playoffs, or trying to find affordable dim sum on a Sunday in the International District without a thirty-minute wait.
