I'll tell ya one thing, b'y, you can always count on a good debate in St. John's about da gulls. We love 'em, we hate 'em, dey're part of da scenery from da Narrows right up to da Rooms. But now, da City of St. John's has been having a right ol' time trying to manage dem at da Robin Hood Bay landfill, and some folks are saying da whole "gull cull" thing ain't working at all. I mean, we're talkin' thousands of gulls, b'y!
The City's been killing 'em, yeah, as part of dere wildlife management plan, thinking it'll cut down on da numbers around da landfill. But da critics, they're saying, "Hold on a minute, here. You're just opening up a spot for more gulls to come in!" It's like trying to bail out a dory wit' a teacup when da ocean's coming in, b'y. You might get a bit done, but da problem's still dere. It makes ya wonder if dere's a better way to keep da gulls from making a big ol' mess up by da dump, especially since dat's right near da Thorburn Road area, and nobody wants a hundred gulls squawking over dere bin.
