You won't believe what's flying to the moon, b'y
Whaddya at, b'y — this is St. John's, oldest city in North America, and we're still here. Let's go.
I'll tell ya one thing, b'y, you think you've heard it all in St. John's, right? You've seen da fog roll in over da Narrows, you've heard da screech-in song a hundred times down on George Street, you might even have a story about finding a lost puffin on Water Street. But did you ever in your life think you'd hear about a flag from da Innu Nation going to da moon? Seriously, b'y. Jeremy Hansen, he's da Canadian astronaut, and he's bringing an Innu Nation flag wit him on da Artemis II mission. It's launching from Florida dis Wednesday, and dat little flag, from right here in our neck of da woods, is going on a 10-day trip around da moon. It's unreal, b'y. Just think of it.
### Why This Matters for Us
Now, why does dis matter to us down here, you ask? Well, it's a big deal, innit? It shows da world dat even from da edge of da continent, our stories, our people, dey're part of something massive. It's not just a flag; it's a piece of home, of history, of da Indigenous peoples who have been here for thousands of years, going further dan anyone from here has ever gone before. It's a reminder dat our little corner of da world, from da Battery all da way up to da Rooms overlooking da harbour, is connected to da whole wide universe, b'y.
* **Global Recognition:** It puts da Innu Nation, and by extension Newfoundland and Labrador, on da global map in a way not many tings do. * **Local Pride:** Gives us all a bit of a swell in our chests, knowing a piece of our heritage is way up there. * **Inspiration:** Imagine da young ones, looking up at da moon from Bannerman Park, knowing a piece of home is up there. It's powerful, b'y.
It just goes to show ya, b'y, we're not just some sleepy rock out in da Atlantic. We're part of da bigger picture, and sometimes, da biggest stories start right here. Makes ya feel a bit less like everyone's leaving for Fort Mac, eh? We're still here, still making history, and now, we're making space history too.
