Someone just found a dirty needle at a St. John's preschool!

I'll tell ya one thing, b'y, you think you've heard it all, then two young ones at a downtown St. John's preschool dig up a "filthy, dirty" syringe in their playground, and one of 'em actually sticks theirself with it. My heart nearly stopped right there on Water Street when I heard it this morning. This isn't some back alley, b'y, this is a place where parents drop off their little treasures, expectin' 'em to be safe. It just makes ya sick to your stomach, don't it?
Now, the Newfoundland Labrador English School District is on it, cleanin' up the grounds and talkin' to the police, but the damage is done for those poor young'uns and their families. It's a wake-up call, by, right in da middle of da city. We've got da colourful houses of da Battery just up da road, Bannerman Park where da kids play all summer, and then this happens right near where our youngest are supposed to be safe.

Dat's da main ting, b'y. * **Community Impact:** Parents in St. John's are gonna be lookin' at every sandbox and swing set a bit differently now, I'd say. * **Safety Protocols:** What's bein' done to ensure this never, ever happens again in *any* of our city's playgrounds?
