This new clinic is a real kick in the teeth, eh?
Bonjour du Nord — c'est Sudbury, on lâche pas. Let's go.
So, you hear about Dynacare opening up this new medical testing centre here in Sudbury? Ben là, you’d think that’s good news, right? More health services for us up here. Except, voyons donc, the samples are going all the way down to Brampton for testing. Seriously? We’re talking about blood work, urine samples, all that stuff, getting trucked hundreds of kilometres down south, eh? It just feels like another one of those things where they give us a little bit, but not the whole mine. We deserve the full shaft, if you catch my drift.
### What's the deal with Brampton?
This is the kind of stuff that just makes you shake your head. We've got hospitals, we've got Laurentian University with its science programs, we’ve got smart people right here. Why can't we process these samples in Sudbury? It’s not like we’re some tiny outpost in the middle of nowhere. We’re a hub for all of Northeastern Ontario.
* More traffic on the highways, eh? Those samples gotta get there somehow. * Potential for delays. What if there’s a snowstorm on Highway 69? Good luck getting those results back quickly. * It just feels like a missed opportunity for local jobs, doesn't it? We could be doing that work right here.
It really highlights that old problem, eh? Southern Ontario thinks they can just ship things up here, or ship our stuff down there, and it’s all the same. But for folks living in New Sudbury, or over in the Flour Mill, or even out in Copper Cliff, this isn't just about convenience. It’s about feeling like a priority. We're a growing city, with real health needs, and having our medical samples drive past the Big Nickel on their way to Brampton? Ça ne fait pas de sens.
