Your kid might be playing Senior Assassin and you don't even know it
Morning from Swan Valley — here's what matters in the northwest.
This "Senior Assassin" game some high schoolers are playing in Ontario? It’s something we need to talk about here in Swan River, especially with spring just getting started and kids looking for ways to blow off steam. Police out east are really warning students about it because, frankly, spraying someone with a water gun in the wrong situation could lead to a whole lot of trouble. We're talking about real confusion, real fear, especially when things look too much like the real deal. In one case, an unhoused man was sprayed, which is just not right, and it shows how things can go sideways fast.
### Why This Matters in Swan River
Think about it. We’re a close-knit community. People here know each other, but not everyone knows what game is being played. You see someone running through the back alley near Main Street, or maybe out past the logging roads towards Duck Mountain, and they're carrying what looks like a weapon? People here are practical, they’re protective. They won’t hesitate to call it in if something seems off.
* **Public Safety:** It’s about not causing alarm. Our RCMP detachment is busy enough without folks mistaking water guns for something worse. * **Community Trust:** We rely on each other. Games like this, especially when they involve "assassinating" targets with water guns, can erode that trust if people feel unsafe or confused. * **Consequences:** Students could face serious consequences, not just from the school, but potentially with law enforcement if a situation escalates. Nobody wants to see a kid from the valley get into that kind of trouble over a game.
We work hard to keep our valley safe and sensible. Let’s make sure our high schoolers know the risks, and that we as a community understand what’s going on around us. This isn't Winnipeg or Toronto; we don't have the anonymity. What happens here affects us all, from Minitonas to Bowsman.
